Rico Wallenta was born on the 24th of August 1974 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz). In February 1999 he completed his study in architecture in the University of Applied Science (HTWK) in Leipzig, Germany with the predicate "very good".
For the last 11 years he has been working in the development sector, especially in reconstruction post disasters and crises as an architect, consultant and project/programme coordinator in worldwide humanitarian projects. He is also a member of various associations and networks such as TRIALOG (Association for Scientific Research into Planning and Building in the Developing World), Médecins Sans Frontières - Ärzte ohne Grenzen e.V. and katastrophennetz.de (disaster network - between science and practice).

Sonya is an independent consultant, whose for the last 6 years is providing consultancies for humanitarian and development organizations post disaster. Her main work in this field has focused on managing projects in the implementation of development and emergency programs and information management.
Before this, Sonya did a variety of jobs which include the work as a government official in the Indonesian department of internal affairs for almost 5 years. This latter job has linked her indirectly to which she is now committed.
She has been involved in the humanitarian and development world since her first assignment in the emergency response 2005 post Tsunami and Earthquake in Aceh, Indonesia immediately after the disaster. First to support Bokarnas (National Disaster Management Coordinating Board) and then worked for the UN-OCHA to help address both outstanding humanitarian needs, whilst supporting local authorities for coordination of recovery and reconstruction activities.
